Questions about becoming an archaeologist

Do most archeologists travel a lot?

Dr. dig responds:
Some archaeologists work near the places they live, others travel great distances to excavate the sites they are working on, and then return home to write up the results of their research and to spend time studying and analyzing pottery and other archaeological remains more closely in a lab.

Archaeologists need to travel to the excavations they work on. Sometimes the excavations where they work are in a country different from their own; others are in the same town, state or region. For example, an Egyptologist will have to travel to Egypt, but some archaeologists specialize in the history of their own state so don't need to go very far to do their work!
