Questions about Asia and the Pacific

I was told there were two very ancient Hawaiian races - the Ola, and the Waa. I think that one of the words for canoe is waa? Do you know anything about this?

Dr. dig responds:
My best advice for you is to contact the Bishop Museum in Honolulu at www.bishop.hawaii.org for all you questions regarding ancient Hawaii. There are very few resources on the web about ancient Hawaii, and the best books on the subject will be available from bookstores in your region.

See www.lava.net/~poda/glossary.html for a glossary of Hawaiian words.

For ancient surfboard and canoing history in Hawaii, there is one excellent website on the subject: www.legendarysurfers.com
