Questions about Egypt

Who was Nefertiti?

Dr. dig responds:
Nefertiti was the wife of Akhenaten, pharaoh of Egypt, and therefore queen of Egypt during his reign between 1350 and 1334 B.C. Nefertiti had several daughters with Akhenaten. Akhenaten had several wives, one of whom, Kiya, may have been the mother of the famous Tutankhamun. No mention is made of Nefertiti is madfollowing the 12th year of Akhenaten's reign, that is, 1338 B.C. Nefertiti was buried in the Royal tomb of Akhenaten at Amarna, judging by the evidence of a fragment of an alabaster figure bearing her 'cartouche', or stamp, found there in the early 1930s, but archaeologists have not found her mummy.
