What did the Arabs call the Egyptian pyramids?

Dr. dig responds:
Modern Egyptians call the pyramids el ahram. Melton, an English
traveler, writing in 1661, tells us that "I visited the pyramids, called by
the Arabs 'the Mountains of Pharaoh.'" Interestingly, the medieval Arabs
did, and some still do today, refer to the Great Sphinx of Giza as abu el
hol’or "Father of Terror."
