Questions about Egypt

What is faience?

Dr. dig responds:
Faience is the term commonly used for the colored glass paste the ancient Egyptians used to make little amulets and charms. Faience was most often blue or turquoise green but could also be colored black, white, purple or even red. The Egyptians liked to use this material because they could mould it easily into little shapes such as beads or amulets (charms).
