Questions about Egypt

Can you tell me about Ramesses II?

Dr. dig responds:
Ramesses II ruled for 67 years, from 1279-1212 B.C. He had a reputation as a great warrior, which he seems to have exaggerated. He fathered over 100 children, and he was probably in his nineties when he died. The mummy of Ramesses II was discovered in 1881. In more recent years, it has been carefully analyzed by scientists using X-rays and CAT scans, as well as microscopic analysis of his clothing, skin, and mummy wrappings.
