Questions about Egypt

Is being an Egyptologist fun? Is it easy, what do you do?

Dr. dig responds:
Egyptologists probably have the most fun of all! Just imagine...the pyramids, the vast desert, the lush Nile valley, great treasures, mummies, mystery, tombs. You name it, Egyptologists get to excavate some of the most fabulous stuff ever discovered in one of the most intriguing and beautiful parts of the world.

But is it easy? Well, Egypt does get hot and Arabic is not an easy language for us English speakers to learn in an instant.

So becoming an Egyptologist and a good one, takes hard work and determination. But isn't that the same in any profession?

I am not an Egyptologist myself, although I have to know a lot about ancient Egypt in the work that I do. I am a Classical archaeologist by training. That means I specialize in the art and archaeology of ancient Greece and Rome.
