Although the land of Punt has not been precisely located, most Egyptologists would agree that it is likely to be near modern Somalia.

The evidence for this comes from Hatshepsut's expedition that ventured down the Red Sea coast to Punt and brought back a variety of exotic creatures, spices, gold, and ivory, all of which are beautifully illustrated in relief carving in the funerary temple of Hatshepsut.
