I want to do some research on the contacts between the people of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Britain. Can you tell me if there any publications available?

Dr. dig responds:
A few years ago, some archaeologists speculated that there had been contact between the peoples of Ancient Egypt and the peoples of Ancient Britain because some Egyptian finds turned up on British sites. But now it is realized that these Egyptian artifacts did not come directly from Egypt. Most were brought much later by the Romans (when they moved to Britain, it seems that they brought their prized antiques with them), while a few seem to have come via long-distance trade across central Europe. The faience beads found in Bronze Age barrow cemeteries are now not believed to be Egyptian in origin. So, there is no real evidence for any direct contact at all between the two peoples, although a few non-scientific archaeological books continue to speculate that this might have happened.
