What made you want to be an archeologist?

Dr. dig responds:
I live in the north west of England, where we are lucky enough to have lots of museums with really great Egyptian collections. My parents would take me to visit on weekends and during school vacations. These trips made me want to read books and magazines (just like DIG magazine)-not just about Egypt, but about prehistory, and Greece and Rome, and everything archaeological. So, I guess that when it came to making a career choice, there was really only one option. I was very comfortable with this choice, because archaeology is a very good subject to study. It teaches research, analytical thinking, history, geography, science, and much, much more. So, I knew that if things didn't go quite according to plan, and I couldn't get a post as an archaeologist, I could always use my skills in some other career.
