I have a class project for multimedia my teacher wants to know what and how computer animation is used in archaeology.
Dr. dig responds:
Computers are being used more and more by archaeologists, just as they are becoming a part or everyone's lives today. Computers are a valuable tool for archaeologists because of its ability to handle massive amounts of material more rapidly and dependably than any other system. It is especially useful for artifact analysis on archaeological sites with large numbers of finds.
The application of computer animation in archaeology is yet another way that scientists are finding computer technology useful -- its full potential, though, has not been fully explored.
Computer animation allows archaeologists to create on-screen, three-dimensional images from the measurements of fragmentary archaeological remains. This helps archaeologists better visualize how an object, building, or even an entire site might have looked from the few remaining finds from an excavation.
